Music on hold is another way to express and promote your brand. There are several places on the sipVine system where hold music is commonly played:

• The most traditional is when a caller is placed on hold by an individual user. The caller will hear the music on hold until the user returns to their phone and resumes the call.
• With a VoIP system, there are no more "lines" in play. So, to place a caller on a "common" hold where it can be retrieved from any phone is termed "Parking" a call.  When a call is in park, the caller also hears music on hold until the call is retrieved by the same or another party. Presumably, this has the potential to last a little longer while the intended party is found or is by a phone.
• If a business deploys a call queue for certain aspects of their business (like customer service), callers can hear music on hold while they wait for their call to be answered. Periodic greetings interrupt the music on hold with notice of their number in line, estimated wait time, and such.
• We can even play music on hold while a call goes to a ring group. Although the caller hears the music, the phones are actually ringing to the people in the ring group. This differs from a call queue in that calls in queue are essentially on hold until an agent becomes available, so no ringing occurs until the call is sent to that available agent.

Options

Although sipVine provides a standard, generic music on hold option for our customers, we do not assume that it is representative of your brand.  Many businesses have secured music options with a commercial overlay that are updated periodically. We are happy to upload these sound files to our system or any other music to which you own the rights.

If you have a program that calls for a rotation of sound files or periodic replacement, we are happy to implement that for you as well.
